Three Pi Day Pie Recipes to Make in a Lagunitas Mason Jar
Pie in a Jar
In honor of Pi Day, we made ya three pie recipes you can make in your favorite Lagunitas mason jar.
Chocolate Pie in a Jar:
- Make some chocolate pudding (we just used the boxed kind and followed the instructions, but you get as fanc-ay as ya like).
- Get some graham crackers and smash ‘em up.
- Melt some butter and mix it up with the graham cracker crumbs.
- Alternate layering the graham cracker crumbs with the chocolate pudding in the mason jar. Make your layers about ½-1 inch thick. The bottom layer should be graham crackers and the tippy-top layer should be chocolate pudding.
- Top with whip cream and bam! Chocolate pie in a jar.
Boston Cream Pie in a Jar:
- Bake a vanilla cake in a 9×13 pan. (We used the boxed kind and followed the instructions on the box to a tee).
- While you’re waiting, make some instant French vanilla or custard putting (once again, make it easy on yourself and use the box mix), letting it set before assembly.
- Once the cake is done and cooled (patience is key here), cut it into 2-inch circles (or just a smidge smaller than the mouth of whatever jar you’re using).
- Microwave a can of store-bought chocolate frosting for 45 seconds to thin it out a bit.
- Now you’re ready to assemble! Begin with a very large dollop of pudding, followed by a cake round, and then some chocolate frosting. Repeat the layers a second time, ending with the chocolate frosting on top.
- Top with whip cream and chocolate sauce or fudge. Boom…Boston cream pie in a jar!
Blueberry Pie in a Jar:
- First things first, you’ll need some pie crust (we used the easy just-add-water-kind…are you sensing a theme?).
- Roll the dough into a ball, then flatten it out and cut into rectangles.
- Press a doughy rectangle around the inside of each jar.
- Preheat your over to 400 degrees HOT.
- While the oven is preheating, mix two cups of blueberries with about ½ cup of sugar (depending on how shweet ya like it). Add a pinch of salt and cinnamon and mix it all together.
- Fill the dough’d jars with the blueberry mix.
- Top the jars with a very fancy lattice, creating a crisscross pattern with the left-over dough.
- For that extra *toasty* look, glaze the top with butter and a sprinkle of sugar. Bake for about 30 minutes at 400 degrees. There ya have it! Blueberry pie in a jar.
